Pi Theatre will be closing its 2023/2024 season with the debut Canadian showing of Medicine, a play about one man’s experiences with past trauma and mental illness.

Medicine—written by award-winning playwright Enda Walsh—follows the experiences of John and the yearly “drama therapy” he goes through under the guidance of local artists, who help him re-enact parts of his past and his trauma.

The show will premiere on June 14 at The Cultch’s Vancity Culture Lab.

Richard Wolfe, the director for this premiere, says in a release that he is thrilled to be the one to bring this play to Vancouver.

Medicine is thought-provoking, hilarious, and terrifying,” he says. “Walsh shows us that other people can be both the poison that harms us, and the medicine we need to live in the world.”
