Vancouver’s best patios: Main Street

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Maybe I’m a bit biased being Mount Pleasant-based, but there’s something about sitting on a patio on Main Street that never gets old. Ideal for people-watching and soaking up the sun, these are a few of my favourite spots in the hood.

      Tocador

Much like the interior, the patio at Tocador is vibrant and bright, with straw-style umbrellas to protect you from the sun. The Cuban spot has two types of patio seating: bar seating along the restaurant and picnic tables on the street. Hit ‘em up on Mondays for all-day happy hour.

      Anh & Chi

Famous for offering patio seating year-round due to makeshift walls and plenty of heaters, Anh & Chi is a local fave for patio dining. Much like its interior, its patio features plenty of greenery and various table sizes. In the warmer months, it extends even further, with a street-side patio extending past its upcoming new sister spot, The Good Thief.

      Como Taperia

Como Taperia is one of those spots where it’s hard to walk by without getting a whiff of delicious Spanish food. Being right on the corner, combined with the fact that there is no crosswalk at Main and 7th, makes it the ideal place to watch people attempt to dodge multiple lanes of traffic.

      Burdock & Co

For a spot that is tucked away but not too hidden, Michelin-starred Burdock & Co has one of my favourite patios. This one is located in the garden and offers privacy via its tall greenery, while fairy lights add a soft glow. Much like the rotational menu, being outside really highlights the best that BC has to offer.

      The Narrow

For an IYKYK vibe, The Narrow is the place to be. This spot is already easy to miss for newbies, but adding a hidden patio heightens the level of secrecy. The backyard patio is brighter than the somewhat dingy lounge, but still manages to be just as kitschy.
