U.S. shuts out Japan 2-0 to win Paralympic gold medal in ice sledge hockey

The U.S. has beat Japan 2-0 to win the gold medal in ice sledge hockey at Vancouver’s 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Today (March 20), Alexi Salamone and Taylor Lipsett scored for the winning team, as goalie Steve Cash earned the shutout.

Japan was the team that stunned Canada with a 3-1 win in the semifinals.

Canada went on to lose the bronze-medal game 2-1 to Norway, and ended up finishing the tournament in fourth place.

The medals were awarded after the game at UBC Thunderbird Arena.
