The LiterAsian Writers Festival is back for another year, spanning two days of thoughtful discourse on the Asian Canadian experience.

Examining the concept of redress, this year’s festival takes place at various Vancouver venues on May 4 and 5 to coincide with Asian Heritage Month. 

On May 4 at 2pm, Joy Kogawa discusses her new career-spanning work From the Lost and Found Department at the Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall National Historic Site.

Also on May 4, this time at 4pm at Centre A, Angie Wong and Todd Wong speak about Chinese Canadian activism in the form of publications like Ricepaper and the Asianadian.

Closing out May 4’s lineup is a panel on the idea of using storytelling to inspire hope; writers Ujjal Dosanjh, Lindsay Wong, Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio, and Keiko Honda will be at the Chinatown Storytelling Centre at 6pm.

And then on May 5, Floata Seafood Restaurant is hosting a fundraiser for the festival that will feature wine tastings, dim sum dishes, and author readings. Writers in attendance will be Joy Kogawa, Angie Wong, Ujjal Dosanjh, Lindsay Wong, Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio, and Keiko Honda.
