Osama and Dubya sharing a moment in Postal.
Last night (May 16), I attended the Vancouver screening of Uwe Boll's latest movie Postal with a fellow fan of the video game the movie is based on. Judging by the cheers there seemed to be a lot of support from the audience for the controversial Vancouver-based filmmaker.
The movie pokes fun at North America's post-911 political and cultural climate. Uwe himself attended the screening and voiced his discontent with the Iraq war with characteristic diplomacy, calling President George W. Bush a "fucking retard criminal".
According to Boll, very few North American theatre chains have agreed to screen the movie because of the political nature of some of the humour, while Europe has also apparently shied away from the movie in fear of offending radical Islamists. Boll claims he even enlisted the help of Guy Ritchie in the UK, but was still unable to screen in Jolly Old England.
A lot of people didn't bother to stay to listen to Boll speak at the end.
