It was an uphill battle indeed! On a sunny Friday afternoon, almost 2,000 people converged to the corner of Alma and 10th Avenue to participate in the Chip's Not Dead Yet Memorial Mile.

In addition to the elite timed run with a winning purse of $20,000, the event included waves of other themed races including Rock Star, Pimped Out, Super Heroes Half Mile, Bahamas Bridal Dash, and Underwear Dash.

Racers were greeted at the finish line by encouraging cheerleaders and enticing smells from numerous BBQs. All proceeds from these barbeques were also donated to the BC Children’s Hospital. In addition to Lululemon tops, organizers also provided free food and drinks for all the participants at the finish line.

As promised, the Post Race After Party was held at West 10th Ave. between Sasamat and Tolmie in conjunction with the Point Grey Fiesta. Russell Beer Company had set up a beer garden right across from the Straight Entertainment stage.

Adidas had set up a clinic at the finish line as well and Crocs gave away 200 pair of shoes to randomly selected participants.

Good afternoon everyone -

We met briefly on Friday evening at the 1st Annual Chip's Not Dead Yet Memorial Run for Children's Hospital. While taking photos of the corporate team for the law firm of McCarthy Tetrault, I was inspired by your spirit, colour and gaiety to create a broader photographic record. As promised, here is the link to web album of the event. Feel free to share this link with your team mates, work colleagues, classmates, family and friends - and do so with pride. Amid the fun and festivity, you helped make a world of difference for our tiniest and most vulnerable citizens and the families that love them. Monday morning's headlines that surgeries are being cancelled at Children's Hospital were a grim reminder of how critically important our support is. See you all next year!
