Dunbar haunted house screams scary
This past weekend, my friends and I were looking for a cheap haunted activity and discovered that the best haunted house is at 6478 Dunbar, between 48th and 49th avenues. I was a bit skeptical because the haunted house was just somebody’s home and thought it would be a bit lame, but once we got there I couldn’t have been more impressed. The setup was around the outside of the house, and the walkthrough took you to very scary times in history. The props were amazing, and there were screams echoing all over the place. We liked it so much we went through twice, and my wife got scared both times.
Entry to the haunted house is by donation to the B.C. Professional Fire Firefighters’ Burn Fund, Vancouver Police Union Charitable Foundation, and B.C. Childhood Cancer Parents Association. The haunted house has been around for a couple of years and has been growing every year. The owner of the house just enjoys bringing entertainment to the neighbourhood. He is not that big of a horror fan but really likes the reactions that he gets when people come through. I think it’s fantastic that people do this for the public, and I wish there was more of it.
Beware: many of the little ones were quite scared when we were going through, and we saw a couple of kids clinging for dear life to their parents’ legs.
The haunted house is open Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight and runs until Nov 1st. www.dunbarhauntedhouse.com.
