Thousands worth of gear stolen from Vancouver’s Said The Whale in California

Vancouver indie act Said The Whale had a rude awakening in California this morning [March 8].

Members of the pop-rock group discovered thousands of dollars worth of gear had been stolen from a trailer parked outside the house they were staying in after a Sacramento show.

The trailer’s lock had been cut and missing were two acoustic guitars, a synthesizer, a cymbal set, a microphone, guitar pedals, two glockenspiels, and luggage.

But the band seems to be bouncing back after the loss, posting a YouTube video in which members reenact the discovery.

“We’ve got some shopping to do, needless to say, and it will set us back quite a bit, but I think our spirits our slightly higher than they were this morning,” singer Tyler Bancroft says in the video.

Said The Whale has shows scheduled in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and San Diego in the coming days before heading to Texas for the SXSW festival.

“Still lovin' America, just hatin' the thieves,” the band posted on Twitter earlier today. “Headed out to the pawn shops now, wish us luck!”
