B.C. Spot Prawn Festival hits Fisherman’s Wharf on May 5

Eagerly anticipated by local food lovers, spot prawn season is here—for the next six to eight weeks only. The celebration kicks off this Saturday (May 5) with the annual festival at False Creek Fisherman’s Wharf, just west of Granville Island. It runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with cooking demos and a prawn boil ($12 a plate) that benefits the Chefs’ Table Society of B.C. (The food sells out, so buy your tickets in advance at spotprawnfestival.com/.) You can also buy a bag of the crustaceans fresh off the boat to take home for $12 a pound; look for them in the same place daily after 1 p.m. for the duration of the season.
