Venables Street mess expected to be cleaned up for evening rush hour

Earlier today (May 3), Vancouver's Venables Street looked like Aunt Em's house (from The Wizard of Oz) fell on it.

Here's an update on this situation from the Vancouver police, for those cyclists and polluters planning to use this route:

Vancouver Police, WorkSafe BC and the City of Vancouver have been working together today in an effort to safely remove a large load of smashed glass windows and doors from Venables Street. Investigators from the VPD Commercial Vehicle Unit have determined that the trailer unit containing the windows and doors buckled under the weight of the load after the driver made a turn from Clark Drive onto Venables around 6:30 this morning.

Traffic west of Clark Drive on Venables has been disrupted for most of the day as crews tackled the pile of debris. Street sweepers are expected to clean the block shortly which will allow the road to be opened for rush hour traffic.

The driver has been issued a violation ticket for an insecure load.

      Or a humourous journalist.

BTW, is there some debate on whether cars pollute or not, compared to cyclists?

Or are you just a butt-hurt whiner?
