Don't call him Tom Gabel anymore.

The married lead singer of punk-rock band Against Me! is about to become a woman named Laura Jane Grace.

The 31-year-old discusses feeling disconnected from his body and having gender dysphoria in the June issue of Rolling Stone magazine (out on Friday [May 11]).

According to news reports, he will take hormones and undergo electrolysis, and he is considering gender reassignment surgery.

Gabel will remain married to his wife (he is not attracted to men), with whom he has a two-year-old daughter.

But Gabel isn't completely alone as a trans rock star.

Keith Mina Caputo, the former vocalist of the alternative metal band Life of Agony (who has pursued a solo career since 1997), came out in 2011 as a transsexual and announced plans to transition from male to female.
