No Canadian has ever won a Grand Slam singles title of any kind. On Sunday morning, 18-year-old Filip Peliwo of North Vancouver can change that. Peliwo will face Belgium's Kimmer Coppejans for the Junior Boys title on the red clay courts at Roland Garros Stadium in Paris.

Peliwo, the fifth seed, rallied from a slow start to defeat Czech Adam Pavlasek 2-6, 7-6, 6-0 in today's semi-final.

This marks the second straight junior Grand Slam final appearance for Peliwo who honed his skills at the North Shore Winter Club and is now part of Tennis Canada's national training program in Montreal. He finished runner-up at the junior Australian Open in January.
