An overnight fire has caused "extensive damage" to the ticket station at the Stanley Park miniature railway.

Three nearby trees were also damaged by the two-alarm blaze at Pipeline Road and Rosegarden Lane, near the old petting zoo.

Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services said this morning (June 22) that its investigator has "determined that this fire is suspicious in nature and that it was deliberately set".

Firefighters put out the blaze some time after the 911 call came in around midnight.

"Firefighters arrived on scene to find an approximately 20 by 20 foot structure with an overhead canopy fully engulfed in flames," the fire department said in a statement.

Two firefighters were sent to St. Paul's Hospital with minor injuries, and have since been released.
