When will Twitter figure out that Jack Layton is dead?

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Among some New Democrats, Jack Layton will always be their immortal leader.

It turns out that the former Toronto-Danforth MP also lives on in the Twitterverse.

Today, the social-media site keeps urging me to follow Layton, even though he's been dead for nearly 11 months.

Surely, Twitter has enough staff to do something about this situation.

How exactly is this Twitter's responsibility? The NDP was running the account; it's their responsibility to delete it if they do not want it showing up like that anymore.

In a week that saw a media shitstorms over such non-issues as Globe and Mail editor Stephen Wicary moving to Cuba, Harper saying Calgary is the best city in the country, and some Toronto nutjob Muslim preacher saying that women should be legally required to cover up, this just might take the cake for being the non-newsiest non-news item that someone got paid to write for a widely circulated publication. Congratulations, Charlie Smith: the competition was fierce, but you delivered.
