Okay, so maybe you couldn't travel to the Big Apple's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to hear the SFU Pipe Band when it played there in May.

But now you can try to relive the night through the band's new CD, Live From New York City, as it sails through a range of traditional and nontraditional tunes.

The cover? A bagpipe-toting Statue of Liberty, of course.

The 47-member SFU Pipe Band is a force to contend with: over the last three decades, it's earned six firsts and nine second-place titles at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow. (No surprise, CD sales of the new release are expected to be brisk in Scotland.)

The CD, its 11th, can be purchased for $20 on the band’s website, www.sfupb.com/ starting Saturday (July 28). It's also in select stores, including--where else?--Tartantown in Coquitlam. Signed copies are also available for $30.
