Three Metro Vancouver communities have been recognized for being particularly supportive of older residents.

West Vancouver, Surrey, and White Rock are among nine local governments receiving today (September 26) the Age- friendly B.C. recognition from the B.C. government.

According to a news release, communities gaining the recognition established advisory committees, conducted assessments, and developed action plans with input from local seniors.

For their efforts, the municipalities get $1,000 and a congratulatory poster.
