Calgary Stampeders advance to Grey Cup after defeating B.C. Lions 34-29

Calgary quarterback Kevin Glenn rose to the challenge in the Western Conference Final with three touchdown passes, including two in the third quarter.

That was enough for his team to topple the Western Conference champions, the B.C. Lions, 34-29 and move on to the Grey Cup.

Glenn was pressed into service when Drew Tate suffered a broken arm in the conference semifinal victory over Saskatchewan.

With less than a minute in the game, B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay threw a touchdown pass to Nick Moore, narrowing the Stampeders' lead at B.C. Place. But the match was effectively over when the home team couldn't come up with the ball after an onside kick.

Paul McCallum kicked five field goals and the Lions scored a touchdown on an interception by Korey Banks. But earlier in the week, Lulay revealed that he had a head cold and he didn't appear very sharp during the game.

Calgary will play the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League final after the Argos defeated the Montreal Alouettes 27-20 earlier today.

Having confidently picked the Alouettes and Lions for the Grey Cup final, I can now safely predict that either the Edmonton Eskimos or the Saskatchewan Roughriders will take the big trophy home.

      No, wait ...
