Hot Chip tells homophobic athletes: "Don't Deny Your Heart"

The You Can Play project was launched to counter homophobia in sports in North America. But could Hot Chip's new video hint at where things may head in the future if this campaign truly takes off?

We hope so.

It's every anti-same-sex-marriage, hyper-conservative closet case's nightmare. Or wet dream. (Which is the same thing.)

The jocular video for the jaunty "Don’t Deny Your Heart" (directed by British actor, comedian, and writer Peter Serafnowicz and from their fifth album In Our Heads) depicts the British electro nerd-house band launching into a football (that's soccer to us North Americans) video game match on their tour bus and selecting rival teams Manchester United and Manchester City.

While there's plenty of man-hugging for every goal, some of the players show their homophobic discomfort at such public displays of manfection.

When tensions between the team escalate, things take a turn for the…well, you'll see.

After all, we know that if you deny your heart, things can get really weird.
