David Bowie releases first single in a decade

Surprise! On the occasion of his 66th birthday, David Bowie has released his first single in a decade.

Produced by his old partner Tony Visconti, "Where Are We Now" is explicitly about Bowie's golden years in Germany, back when Berlin was all sexy and miserable and divided by huge walls.

It also sounds a little like the gorgeous "Wild Is the Wind", from Station to Station—an album, for what it's worth, that wasn't part of Bowie's Berlin trilogy.

New album The Next Day is slated for release in March.
