Downton Abbey gets reimagined as a graphic novel

Released just in time for the American premiere of the third season of Downton Abbey, Agent Gates and the Secret Adventures of Devonton Abbey parodies the popular Edwardian-era costume drama in all its class distinctions and diction.

Unbeknownst to the Granville family whose upper-class lifestyle goes on unaffected upstairs, their team of servants downstairs is, in reality, a set of highly skilled Secret Service agents intent on protecting Queen and country from a quickly looming world war.

Main character and ace spy Agent Gates is a dead-on portrayal of Downton Abbey valet John Bates, except, of course, for his mechanical, steam-powered leg. In fact, the whole downstairs crew reads like a domestic version of James Bond.

Something tells me that teatime at Devonton Abbey might be a little more adventurous from now on.
