Mark Zuckerberg visits Vancouver; HootSuite not for sale "anytime soon"

Vancouver blogger Knowlton Thomas has reported that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is in Vancouver.

Why he would come here on a Thanksgiving weekend is anyone's guess. Thomas speculated that the billionaire social-media entrepreneur might be interested in buying HootSuite, the creator of a popular social-media dashboard.

However, HootSuite CEO, Ryan Holmes, has tweeted that "@facebook isn't buying @hootsuite anytime soon".

Earlier this year at the Association for Alternative Newsweeklies convention, I attended a session hosted by HootSuite marketing director Dave Olson.

He said that his Downtown Eastside company took two years to sign up its first million users; the next million came within seven months.
