End Justifies The Means?

So many atrocities have been committed to people from the third world and the environment by people who shamefully hide behind corporations and say that they're "just trying to feed their family". What makes you think that YOUR North American family is more important then theirs?

Disclaimer: The ends do not necessarily justify the means based on the answer to this question.

I think, at first glance, we are justified in going to work and working, even if they unintentionally sometimes result in negative consequences to others.

Thought-experiment, buddy:

If the situation were reversed, do you think they would put their selves ahead of our selves? I do not think they would put our well-being ahead of their own well-being, as they have no personal relationship or connection with our self that allows them to see that their actions are wrong. Until it is well-researched and revealed through empirical knowledge in academia, it's not obvious. You're probably learning about the issue right now in school. It didn't just magically appear in your head.

In fact, this is probably one of your first ethics classes. It's great that you're thinking along these lines, but please don't assume that people are evil because they go to work and try to do alright for themselves and their family. It would be nice if we all had the luxury of sitting in class and examining it retroactively all day long and sitting in our moral high-chair.

Let me just ask you this:

What is your kind formula that works for every situation where I work to support my family and take into account everyone's concerns on the planet?

You make it sound so easy. There's problems with even good intentions in this world.

To north america?

Many places around the world are much more self conscience then Canada or America (IE Japan/UAE). In fact, North American countries do more for countries in need then almost anyone else, I fail to see your point of view.
