Every year, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival hosts an ensemble that anchors an array of spinoff performances, and this year that group is the Barry Guy New Orchestra. That’s only natural: the British-born, Swiss-based bassist’s 10-piece band is a dream team of veteran improvisers, most of them leaders in their own right.
