Local film community mourns Oscar nominee William Vince

William Vince, producer of the 2005 Oscar-winning film Capote, passed away last weekend at his home in West Vancouver at the age of 44, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Sydney Rothery: 1966–2007

The staff of the Georgia Straight extend our deepest condolences to the family of Sydney Rothery, who died recently after a courageous battle with cancer. Sydney (seen here with her husband, Colin) was a beloved former retail sales manager who played a major role in the growth and success of the Georgia Straight. She was a warm, compassionate, loving colleague whose charisma and character will never be forgotten. She attracted many talented staff members to the Georgia Straight.

Bruce Serafin, RIP

I never met Bruce Serafin, who died last Wednesday, according to Vancouver critic, writer, and bookseller Christopher Brayshaw. (A celebration of his life will be held on June 17.)
