For a limited time, Vancouverites won’t have to make the trip to Surrey to get their hands on Central City Brewers + Distillers’ beers, whiskey, and gin in one handy place.

In a partnership with the award-winning brewery and distillery, Homer Street Cafe and Bar (898 Homer Street) will be serving Central City’s Queensborough Gin cocktail, a flight of its three coveted Lohin & McKinnon whiskies, and the SuperSolar IPA and Black Lager until December 10.

During this time, the spirits will also be available at the bar and in specially prepared dishes on Homer Street Cafe’s rotating daily menu. Casks of Central City’s Amber Ale blended with the Lohin & McKinnon 150th Anniversary peated whisky will be poured starting on December 7.

To wrap up the weeklong collab, the downtown spot will host a family-style tasting dinner on December 10 with Central City brewmaster Gary Lohin. The event will include a guided whisky tasting with Central City distiller Stuart McKinnon. Tickets are $85 and available in limited quantities by phone or email.

Daily dishes inspired by and which use a number of beers and spirits will also be featured in Homer Street Cafe and Bar's monthly takeover series.

The collaboration is part of a new takeover series conducted by Homer Street Cafe that will see the restaurant welcoming a different brewer or distiller every month into the New Year. Wiser’s Whisky, largely considered Canada’s oldest producer of the spirit, will take the spotlight from January 8 to 14 (tickets for this dinner are already available), while items from Victoria’s celebrated Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. will join Homer Street’s menu in February.

Edrington Group, makers of Scotch whiskies like the Macallan and Highland Park, will take over the eatery in March 2018. Powell Street Brewery and Glenlivet events are planned for April 2018 and May 2018, respectively.

Like the Central City takeover, these fetes will feature libations from the breweries and distilleries, as well as special food items and a finale family-style dinner. For more information about the series, click here.
