A craft brewery from BC’s remote town of Prince George has been named the 2023 Canada Beer Cup Champion.

Deadfall Brewing, which is located on the traditional, unceded territories of the Lheidli T’enneh people, took home the top prize for its Basal Brown, which was entered in the American Style Brown Ale style category. Deadfall focuses on small-batch, sustainably-made products that celebrate quality over quantity.

Second place went to Blindman Brewing in Lancome, Alberta, while third place went to Nelson Brewing Company in Nelson.

The Canada Beer Cup celebrates the best in Canadian brewing over an extensive series of categories and awards. Many other BC breweries took home accolades; the full list of 2023 winners can be found here.
