BC Distilled returns with a new venue and fresh vendors

BC Distilled—the province’s annual artisan distillery event—is set to make its return in April.

This year, the festival finds itself refreshed with a new venue and several new vendors, serving up guided whisky and spirit tasting events over four days.

Held annually each spring since 2014, BC Distilled invites distilleries from across the province to present their finest offerings to spirit aficionados and the public—along with the heartwarming presence of pups from the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society.

Late last year, it was announced that the festival’s designated home, the Croatian Cultural Centre, would stop booking private events. The annual consumer and trade tasting event, which takes place on April 13, now finds a new home at the Italian Cultural Centre, poised to showcase 30 distilleries alongside various non-alcohol vendors.

Whisky Tastings & Book Launch: Canadian Whisky expert and author Davin de Kergommeaux released the third edition of Canadian Whisky The Essential Portable Expert at Taste of Legacy. Your ticket includes a signed copy of the book and a tasting. (April 10 to 11; $59.99)
Distillers Dinner at Forage: The final Distillers Dinner at Forage takes place this year pairing spirits with fine menu items at this iconic local restaurant. (April 12; $139.99 to $169.99)

“Moving to a new venue has given us the opportunity to refresh the event,” says Alex Hamer, BC Distilled’s founder, in a release. “I’m especially looking forward to the addition of food options from the centre, as well as having all of the participating vendors in one room.”

The lineup of participating distilleries and exhibitors includes familiar names like Alchemist Distiller, Ampersand Distilling Company, and Odd Society Spirits, among others. Non-alcoholic options this year include Edna's Non Alcoholic Cocktail Co., Mixers and Elixirs, and Callister Craft Soda.
