There’s nothing better than a day that features both a few fresh pints and some quality time with pups. And while you can often get a good dose of both by heading out to a dog-friendly patio or posting up with some cold ones at a local park, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and Yellow Dog Brewing are partnering up to take that combination to a whole new level.

Part tribute to the hotel’s canine ambassadors Ella and Elly and part fundraiser towards the sponsorship of a puppy through BC & Alberta Guide Dogs, the Lobby Dog Lager from Yellow Dog Brewing is now available at the hotel’s event venues, as well as Notch8 Restaurant & Bar.

“We are thrilled to launch a new house beer with a local partner who shares our passion for quality and community,” says Chris Robinson, director of food and beverage at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, in a statement. “We believe our guests will enjoy this new beer offering that supports a great cause with every sip.”

A pint of the lager goes for $11, and a portion of the proceeds will help in the sponsorship of a guide dog through BC & Alberta Guide Dogs’ puppy raising program. From August 25 to September 1, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver will also be hosting a contest to name the sponsored pup through its website, with the winner being announced on September 8.

That winner will not only get to have named a future Dog With a Job, but will also receive a grand prize package that includes a one night stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a dinner for two at Notch8, and, of course, a round of Lobby Dog Lager.

“We were very excited to be able to collaborate with the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver team to create this special brew,” says Yellow Dog Brewery’s marketing manager, Sydney Nikulka, in a release. “We were thrilled to work on this special project that not only allowed us to develop a tasty beer to honour some canine icons, but also connects to our core values of supporting our dogs, community, and animal welfare.”

Guests with dogs of their own (lucky!) can book the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Lab of Luxury Pet Package, which includes an overnight stay, a four-pack of Lobby Dog Lager, and pet-specific amenities including treats and a dog bed. Because dogs like luxury hotels, too.
