Following successful openings in Burnaby, Surrey, and Richmond, Japanese retailer Uniqlo has announced that it will be claiming real estate in Coquitlam.

The 12,000-square-foot shop will be located on the second level of Coquitlam Centre (2929 Barnet Highway). It will be Uniqlo’s second largest B.C. store, behind only the Metropolis at Metrotown outpost.

The space will carry the Tokyo-based brand’s full range of in-house women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel, which includes its heat-retaining HEATTECH and breathable AIRism lines. Founded in 1984, Uniqlo is known for its versatile basics, relatively affordable pricepoints, and collaborations with high-profile labels and designers such as Peanuts, KAWS, and JW Anderson.

The company entered the Western Canadian market with a Burnaby location in October. Store openings at Guildford Town Centre and Richmond Centre followed this spring.

Uniqlo’s Coquitlam Centre shop is expected to open in fall 2018. The incoming store is part of a rapid expansion plan for Uniqlo that will see the retailer launching three additional outposts in the Greater Toronto Area this year, bringing its total number of Canadian locations to nine—all of them situated in Ontario and B.C.
