Game Design Expo includes Vancouver Film School open house
In addition to Industry Speaker Day, Vancouver Film School’s Game Design Expo features an open house. The free event, which takes place next Sunday (January 20) from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., gives people the opportunity to explore the VFS game-design campus in Chinatown (88 East Pender Street). Visitors can play games created by students in the program and talk to faculty members about what it takes to forge a career in this industry.
The public can also attend game-design classes throughout the day to get a glimpse of what goes into making a video game. Game Theory explores the fundamentals of game mechanics, and Storytelling shows how designers can make players care about the goals of the game. Other classes offered during the open house include Coding in Unity, Game Art, and Level Design.
