      May 19: Shopswag $9 pop-up sale

      Online secondhand menswear store Shopswag.ca is hosting a $9 pop-up shop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight (May 19) at 1181 (1181 Davie Street). Stop by to browse a selection of vintage and preloved apparel from the store—all of which is handpicked and sourced in Vancouver by a team of style-savvy curators—for, you guessed it, $9 a pop. The store carries men’s outerwear, printed button-downs, denim, shorts, and more from lines like American Apparel, Banana Republic, and Armani Exchange. Ladies, feel free to get your shop on as well: you never know where you may find a great unisex piece.

      May 20–21: Smash + Tess pop-up shop

      Meet the founders of Vancouver-based “dreamwear” line Smash + Tess, and shop the label’s luxe at-home threads, from this Friday to Saturday (May 20 to 21) at Little Mountain Gallery (195 East 26th Avenue). The recently launched online shop will be onsite with its full range of fun and flirty lounge- and nightwear, which is designed for ladies who prioritize style even when sitting pretty at home. Think breezy kaftans, floral-print “kimonettes”, and an almost-too-adorable-to-wear baby-doll PJ set, starting at $43—all made with breathable fabrics like modal spandex, belvedere cotton, and silky-smooth crepe. Vancouver artist Dana Mooney will also be present with a selection of vibrant, contemporary pieces, so you can double-down with your shop-local excursion.

      May 20–22: Eastside Flea

      The Eastside Flea is hosting its second monthly market at its new home at the Ellis Building (1024 Main Street) from this Friday to Sunday (Monday 20 to 22), where you’ll find artisan goods from more than 50 local vendors. Among the stock available will be vintage clothing, home décor, succulents and air-plants, and greeting cards and stationery. You’ll also be able to peek into five in-house studio spaces and showrooms to learn more about a selection of local artists and their craft. To catch some live music, cocktails, and extra edibles, check out the Eastside on Friday evening, when it hosts its opening-night Shop ‘n’ Bop from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There, you’ll find DJs providing a soundtrack as you shop and gorge on Tacofino fare, Glazed and Confused donuts, and ginger beer.

      Admission is $3 for one day and $5 for the entire weekend.

      May 22–23: Laudem Deo pop-up shop

      Online women’s fashion boutique Laudem Deo is setting up shop at Sixth Street Popup + Gallery (42 6th Street, New Westminster) for the long weekend, from Sunday to Monday (May 22 to 23). The pop-up marks the Canadian debut for the South African brand, which will be showcasing its entire handcrafted summer collection in-store. Expect everything from printed off-the-shoulder and comfy wrap-dresses to sleek all-white jumpsuits and lacy shorts that should take you through wedding and garden party season with ease. Garments start at $29 and 10 percent of all sales will go toward the Canadian Red Cross to support those affected by the wildfires in Fort McMurray.
