Hitman: Absolution (Square Enix; PS3, Windows, Xbox 360; rated mature)

Becoming the enigmatic Agent 47, for whom this series of games is named, has always required players to set their morals aside for a while. But a brief line of dialogue at the beginning of Hitman: Absolution gives notice that, in this game, you may find yourself actually questioning your code.

The Hitman games have always been about finding creative ways to complete contracts. Absolution provides multiple options to players and encourages you to play levels over again to try another method. A built-in leader board shows how you fared compared to others. “Contracts” is the multiplayer mode which pits you against other hitmen in a race to see who can take out the target first.
