Expect an emotional celebration at Rogers Arena on July 24 when Canadian music icon Gord Downie takes the stage.

It's the second stop on the Tragically Hip's 11-date national tour, which was announced this morning.

On Tuesday (May 24), the band announced that its charismatic lead singer has terminal brain cancer. It's an aggressive form of the disease, known as gliobastoma.

His neuro-oncologist, Dr. James Perry, told the media that Downie's cancer won't prevent him from singing.

The band's first show on the tour is at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Victoria on July 22. The tour winds up in Kingston on August 20.
