Music legends alert: Itzhak Perlman and Roger Waters are both performing in Vancouver tonight

The worlds of classical music and prog-rock are converging in downtown Vancouver tonight.

That's because this city will be hosting simultaneous performances by legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman and legendary bassist Roger Waters.

Perlman is over at the Orpheum Theatre, where at 8 p.m. he'll join the Otto Tausk-led Vancouver Symphony in a program of music from some of Hollywood’s greatest hits, specially arranged for him by John Williams, including the theme from Schindler’s List.

At the same time, a few blocks away at Rogers Arena, former Pink Floyd bassist, vocalist, and cosongwriter Waters will be leading his band on the This Is Not a Drill Tour, which features performances of such Floydian gems as "Comfortably Numb" and "Wish You Were Here".

No word yet on whether Itzhak's gonna makes those two worlds collide by taking a quick break at the Orpheum and whipping over to the rink to play a little violin on "Another Brick in the Wall". That would be cool, though.

You can find tickets for Perlman here and Rogers here.
