A man who stripped naked and jumped into a shark-filled tank at Toronto aquarium has been identified as from B.C., and is wanted for that incident as well as an assault that took place a few hours prior.

According to the Toronto Police Service, around 10:30 p.m. on October 12, a man at Ripley's Aquarium of Canada took off all his clothes and jumped into the shark tank.

According to the aquarium website, the tank contains sand tiger sharks (which the aquarium describes as a relatively docile species), green sawfish (which are related to stingrays), green moray eels, green sea turtles, and various fish.

After spending several minutes swimming around and diving in the tank, he got out of the water and then fled.

He has since been identified as 37-year-old David Weaver of Nelson, B.C.

Police connected him to an assault that took place prior to the shark tank incident.

Around 8 p.m. on October 12, police received a call about an assault around Dufferin Street and Saskatchewan Road.

He is wanted for mischief interference with property and assault causing bodily harm.

He is described as 178 centimetres (five-feet, 10-inches) and weighs 100 kilograms (220 pounds) with a heavily build, shaved head, goatee, and is missing a front tooth. He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark jeans, a green t-shirt, and grey and white shoes.

He is believed to be driving a green Dodge Caravan with B.C. license plate PL120G.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400 or 416-808-5200, or for anonymous calls, Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
