Within a span of a few weeks, a second pedestrian had died after being hit by a vehicle on Southeast Marine Drive.

At 10:30 a.m. on November 2, Vancouver police responded to a call about a collision at the intersection of Southeast Marine Drive and Victoria Drive.

A white Mazda struck an 80-year-old pedestrian crossing the street on a crosswalk.

The Mazda driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but died one week later.

His death, the seventh pedestrian fatality in Vancouver this year, follows shortly after the death of another elderly pedestrian in East Vancouver. On November 7, an 83-year-old woman crossing East 30th Avenue at Main Street died after being hit by a pickup truck.

Meanwhile, another pedestrian death on Southeast Marine Drive occurred on October 18. A 35-year-old Vancouver man died after being struck mid-block near Ross Street.
