High-risk federal offender, 26, wanted Canada-wide after leaving Vancouver halfway house

      Vancouver police are searching for a high-risk federal offender who is wanted Canada-wide after he didn’t return to his Vancouver halfway house yesterday.

      Taylin Francis Brent Checkosis, who is 26 years old, is serving his first federal sentence of six years, six months, and 17 days after he was charged with accessory after the fact for murder, assault, and aggravated assault with a weapon.

      He was last seen at 2:45 p.m. on September 8 when he left his halfway house and said he wouldn’t be returning.

      He is described as an Indigenous male who is 178 centimetres (five-feet, 10-inches) tall and weighs 73 kilograms (160 pounds).

      He has black-brown hair with brown eyes, and he was last seen wearing a black jacket, grey athletic pants, a black baseball cap, and black shoes. He was also carrying a black backpack.

      Anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
