The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has announced that former Canadian figure-skating superstar Patrick Chan will appear at two local rinks for on-ice skating sessions and off-ice meet and greets.

A three-time world champion who has broken world records seven times, Chan won gold in the team event at the PyeongChang Olympics and two silver medals at the Sochi Olympics.

On September 17 Chan will be at the Hillcrest Rink (4575 Clancy Loranger Way) from 1:30 to 4 pm, and on October 8 he'll be at the Trout Lake Rink (3350 Victoria Drive) from 1 to 3:30 pm.

“Skating is such a huge part of my life," says Chan in a City of Vancouver news release, "and we’re so fortunate to have these facilities readily available for us, year-round, in Vancouver. Whether you’re getting started early, or putting skates on for the first time later in life, ice skating is such a valuable life skill, not to mention fun!

"I’ve been skating at our rec centres in Vancouver for years," adds Chan, "and love seeing everyone enjoying the ice as much as I do.”

Admission for both events is the regular fee for public skate, and you can learn more here
