RCMP blocked bridges out of Richmond after report of shooting at Vancouver International Airport

Canada Line service to YVR was suspended as police dealt with the situation

      There's been another brazen daylight shooting in Metro Vancouver.

      Today, RCMP responded to a report of gunfire around 3 p.m. at Vancouver International Airport.

      Postmedia has reported that the suspect or suspects fled in a Honda Pilot, firing at least one shot at police.

      That led police to shut down major bridges temporarily going in and out of Richmond, according to Drive B.C.

      All the major routes have since reopened, including the George Massey Tunnel.

      Meanwhile, the Canada Line was only operating between Waterfront Station and Brighouse Station for part of the afternoon.

      No trains were going to Templeton, Sea Island Centre, or YVR-Airport stations on the airport lands.

      But TransLink has since announced over Twitter that service on the Canada Line is back to normal.

      So far, there's no information about whether anyone was injured in the gunfire.

      News of the gunfire at YVR comes less than a day after a fatal shooting in South Burnaby.

      There was also a shooting death in the Guildford neighbourhood on May 4 and another shooting death outside Scottsdale Centre in North Delta on May 1.

      The shooting occurred near the YVR's international departure area. The airport has issued a statement saying the situation has been "contained" at the airport and that flights are operating.

      Update #2

      Richmond RCMP said that one male was shot and killed. When the Mounties tried to intercept the suspects trying to make a getaway, they shot at police.

      No officers were hurt and the hunt continues for the suspects.

      Sea Island Way remains shut from No. 3 Road to Sexsmith Road.
