The video below is difficult to watch.

It shows a man repeatedly kicking a homeless man on the ground in what appears to have been an unprovoked attack around 1 a.m. on July 25.

It took place on Hamilton in the Yaletown neighbourhood, according to Vancouver police, who released the video to the public today.

“We’d like everyone to take a good look at these images,” Sgt. Steve Addison said in a VPD. news release “We’re confident someone knows these people and can help us solve this crime.”

Vancouver police investigators hope that this video helps identify the assailant.

According to the VPD, a bystander took the video, which begins with a man in his 20s arguing with people he appears to know.

After a homeless man walked toward them, the man struck him on the head and then chased him away.

The homeless man was pushed to the ground and then kicked several times before another man interrupted the attack.

“This must have been terrifying for the victim, who is already vulnerable and did not deserve to be treated this way,” Addison said. “We owe it to him to solve this crime and we’re asking anyone with information to give us a call.”

Anyone who can identify the suspect or any others in the video is being asked to call a tip line at 604-717-4022.
