From February 12 to 28 Vancouver's public spaces will be transformed into an interactive, open-air art gallery via AR (augmented reality) by local and international artists.

Presented in collaboration with the Downtown Vancouver BIA and the Vancouver Pride Society, the Vancouver Mural Festival's Winter Arts will feature artists from Vienna, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh, and Dallas, and 10 local artists from Vancouver, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh.

“More than ever, we’ve seen the positive impact that public art and public space brings to communities," says interim VMF executive director Andrea Curtis in a press release. "This has driven us to harness technology in a way which demonstrates the transformative power of art in our cities.

"Until we can reconvene," Curtis adds, "we will continue creating live experiences in public. We really hope this experiment brings joy and inspiration to everyone downtown and beyond."

Local art enthusiasts can download the VMF mobile app to discover 20 AR artworks during Winter Fest and over 250 murals across the city. You can learn more here.
