You Nearly Missed: Herstory Fundraiser Gala raises money for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre

The eighth annual Herstory fundraiser gala takes place tomorrow (March 5), raising funds for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC).

Hosted at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the yearly celebration includes its signature fashion show—performed by women in the community—as well as a live auction, drumming and singing by Wildflower, DJ sets, and an hors d’oeuvres buffet with drinks by Main Street Brewing Co. and Good Wines.

The philanthropic event supports DEWC’s essential programs, including meals for those in need, as well as the creation of safe spaces for women in the Downtown Eastside. This year, the event aims to meet its fundraising goal of $150,000.

In addition to the live auction, Herstory also has a silent auction which runs until 8:15pm on March 5. There are more than 100 donated items from local businesses and artists, including art pieces, a custom jacket, a photography session, Bollywood dance lessons, a trip for two on the Sea-to-Sky gondola, and more.
