The biggest Vaisakhi parade outside of India will take place on Saturday (April 20), with up to a half-a-million people showing up in Surrey, B.C.

In advance of the occasion, Surrey-Newton Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal has launched a video recognizing the contributions of Sikhs in Canadian history and in building the country.

Narrated by broadcaster Kuljeet Kaila, it includes a clip of Dhaliwal speaking about his private member's Bill C-376, which designates April as Sikh Heritage Month.

The legislation was passed by the Senate earlier this month.
