You Nearly Missed: "The Harder They Come" at The Polygon’s Deckchair Cinema

It's possible you missed the opening night screening of The Polygon’s outdoor movie screenings due to the torrential downpour last Thursday. Don’t worry—summer is finally here, and there is plenty more time to catch films on the giant inflatable screen.

Tonight’s film is the 1972 crime film The Harder They Come, a cinematic gem that has been credited with introducing reggae music to an international audience. Based loosely on a true story and starring iconic singer Jimmy Cliff as the lead, the movie follows Ivanhoe Martin, in his pursuit of stardom and the lengths he went to in hopes of achieving fame.

Before the screening, guests can enjoy concession stands with drinks from local breweries (read: there is a licensed zone) and a Bob Marley celebration with DJ Lerow Hikwa that precedes the film. Best of all, the entry by donation also includes access to Polygon’s summer exhibitions.

      When: July 4, 7pm, 9:15pm screen time
