Busy over the past year rewriting history around the world, Burna Boy carves out time for a return to Vancouver this fall. The Nigerian rapper and producer headlines Rogers Arena on November 7 as part of his I Told Them... Tour.

Evidently set up to maximize downtime between shows, the 16-date tour kicks off November 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, marking Burna Boy’s first stadium appearance in the city. It wraps May 9 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The 32-year-old from Port Harcourt has been having himself something of a year, becoming the first Nigerian artist to sell out Madison Square Garden and the first African musician to hit number one on the UK charts with I Told Them...

Not done there, Burna Boy just scored seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop awards, including for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and Best Live Performer.

Videos for tracks like “City Boys”, meanwhile, have sent the world an important message: work harder, and you too will be able to afford cars that 99 per cent of people on the planet will never even sit in. And, if you have to get a job, get a job where the only thing you have to do is hang out on a city street corner with your friends. If Burna Boy indeed “told them,” he was correct.

Over the course of his career thus far, the man born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu has proven himself to be just as comfortable hanging in the studio with Fall Out Boy as he his hanging backstage with Busta Rhymes and SZA.

Vancouver most recently saw Burna Boy in the summer of 2023, when he sold out the PNE Amphitheatre.

General public tickets for the November show go on sale Friday (September 29).
