The Fraser Valley community of Rosedale is mourning the loss of a 19-year-old singer who was killed by her father.

Emily Janzen's dad Randy confessed on Facebook that he shot her in the head to spare her the pain of crippling migraine headaches, which had sent her to hospital on many occasions.

In a bizarre twist, the father also killed his wife Laurel. He wrote that this was because no mother should have to learn of the death of her baby.

Two days later, he then murdered his sister Shelly at her Langley home "because I did not want her to have to live with this shame I have caused all alone".

After perpetrating these crimes, he died in what's believed to be suicide.

His home burned down after a standoff with police in the Janzen family home in the farming community east of Chilliwack.

Emily Janzen's Twitter account made many references to the pain she was suffering.

What a coward. This man should have shot himself, first. Then the three women could have decided what to do with the rest of their lives.

God, what a terrible story. I have no problem with people off'ing themselves, just leave everyone else alone.

Everyone described the father as loving and wonderful but his reasoning shows someone with clear psychopathic tendencies. He essentially felt very comfortable with playing the role of god and deciding which people were better off dead. As Shelly Johnson so aptly put it he should have put himself out of his misery first and let those who want to live decide on how to best handle their lives. In short he's no different than any other mass murdering monster.
