      Guilty plea Natasha Leigh Warren, 34, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after her vehicle killed popular 22-year-old softball player Kassandra Kaulius last year. Warren is expected to be sentenced in December.

      Four missing Search-and-rescue officials have not recovered any of the four people missing from a devastating mudslide on Thursday (July 12) in the tiny Kootenays community of Johnson's Landing.

      Radiation burst NASA says a sun storm is responsible for a huge blast of radiation, which is believed on its way to Earth today.

      Power outages There are nearly 3,000 Lower Mainland residents without electricity this morning, mostly in Burnaby and Surrey. There's no word on whether this is linked in any way to the sun storm.

      Tenant wins Norbert Desjarlais never paid any rent, but he has won a $1,100 award from the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal because the chair, Bernd Walter, concluded that Desjarlais was evicted because he was on welfare.

      Assisted-suicide appeal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson says the federal government will appeal a B.C. Supreme Court ruling striking down the law against physician-assisted suicide, even though the B.C. Civil Liberties Association says the law "violated the rights of the seriously and incurably ill to a death with dignity".

      Stilwell stays Vancouver-Langara MLA Moira Stilwell will be acclaimed on July 26 as the party's candidate in the next election, ending speculation that Premier Christy Clark will abandon Vancouver–Point Grey to run in this safer B.C. Liberal constituency in 2013.

      Stallone's son dies Actor Sylvestor Stallone is "devastated", according to his publicist, after his 36-year-old son Sage was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment.

      Folkie fun The Vancouver Folk Festival got off to a great start last night as Lucinda Williams and Dan Mangan energized a large crowd at Jericho Beach Park. The event continues through Sunday (July 15).

      "The Spigot".. now THAT'S funny! Who is the genius behind that name?
      Sort of makes me think of dribble, or maybe drivel?? (just kidding)

      How about "Hot Off the Press"?

      I like the column, I like seeing it this early in the morning, because that is when I read the paper. This gives me an overview of the latest news and direct me to the articles I want to learn more about. Thanks!!!
      but "The Spigot"??? Sorry, not liking that very much.
