Vancouver may love its music and theatre scene, but as far as decades-old entertainment institutions go, the city is also dedicated to its sports teams.

The Canucks, the BC Lions—heck, even the once-beloved Vancouver Grizzlies are still a topic of conversation. Celebrating five decades in the city this year is our very own professional soccer team, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Along with announcing the team’s 50th anniversary celebration matches, the club is putting out presale tickets for single matches over the season—including festive events such as the Vaisakhi celebration, the highly anticipated match against Lionel Messi and Miami FC, and several decades-themed games from the 1970s onward.

“This club has been a pillar of the community since 1974,” says Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer, in a release. “The lower bowl has been filling up quickly, with limited seats remaining for select matches, so we encourage fans to secure their tickets as early as possible.”

• Saturday, June 1 vs. Colorado Rapids – ’70s Match
• Saturday, June 29 vs. St. Louis CITY SC – Indigenous Peoples Celebration
• Wednesday, July 17 vs. Sporting Kansas City – ’80s Match
• Saturday, July 20 vs. Houston Dynamo FC – Pride Celebration
• Saturday, August 24 vs. Los Angeles FC – ’90s Match
• Saturday, September 7 vs. FC Dallas – Next Gen Match
