Novella coffee bar is closing down

Swish coffee bar Novella is closing down in early April.

The Main Street cafe, which is operated by Boxset Collective (also responsible for Published, Bar Susu, and others), will have its last day of service on April 7.

The decision comes after the news that sister restaurant Bar Susu is able to return home to its original location at 206 East 6th Avenue following a fire. Susu popped up in Novella’s 2650 Main Street space in the evenings for months, and with it now going back to its original location, the company says it made sense to close the cafe—and make way for something new.

“With Novella, the decision to wind down is definitely bittersweet,” says Cody Allmin, co-founder of Boxset Collective, in a statement. “This change allows us to fully dedicate resources to opening a brand new, soon-to-be-announced program in the space.”

That new concept will be announced soon.
