In a new twist on a winter classic, I present this warming mulled white wine. With flavours of honey and ginger and spice, it is sure to be a new seasonal favourite.

      Ingredients

      • 750-ml bottle of aromatic white wine (Singletree’s Siggy goes well)
      • 1 ½ cups white cranberry juice or apple juice
      • 1 orange
      • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled
      • 2 tablespoons honey (or to taste)
      • 1 cinnamon stick
      • 4 star anise
      • 5 to 8 cloves
      • 2 cardamom pods, crushed a little
      • Optional: 75-ml bottle of brandy

      Instructions

      1. Cut the orange and ginger into slices. Place in a Crock Pot or saucepan.
      2. Add the wine, honey, juice, and spices.
      3. Warm mixture until it is very warm, but do not bring it to a boil.
      4. Add optional brandy before serving.
